• «  To stay connected during Covid 19  »

Swiss Online Autism is an online platform developed by Autism-Cognitive Geneva to provide support to families with an ASD child and their entourage during this period of home-confinement due to Covid 19. The purpose of the service is to assist ASD individuals and their families by establishing practical and purposeful solutions for everyday life, including coping methods for problematic behavior and stress management, as well as the implementation of an adapted learning program to avoid losing previously acquired skills.

Based in Geneva, Swiss Online Autism is accessible through a secure and confidential internet platform, Onschool.ch. Our qualified team offers the possibility to work in six languages: French, English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Arabic. For other languages, please contact us. Mr. Hifler and his team developed the model of cognitive intervention and orientation; it has been recognized for 20 years as educational support tool for individuals affected by ASD.

    How does Online Autism work?

The online sessions function in the same manner as the consultations in our centers, with professional educators, specialized in autism, working in your native language. Together, we define the needs and expectations, the number of hours of intervention per week, and the logistics for setting up the program remotely. You will connect with us via the Onschool.ch platform. This tool will enable us to implement the appropriate strategies, to facilitate exchanges between our team and your family, and as a collaborative hub for activities done in the sessions.

    The cognitive model

The cognitive model is an internationally recognized approach, considered to be at the forefront of autism expertise. Based on cognitive science and neuroscience, the approach relies on the theory of learning and information processing as a vehicle for understanding the disability. This approach differs from behavioral and classical methods by understanding how thought works and relates to the ability to integrate and extract information; to find meaning, regulate emotions, and develop communication skills and functional social interactions. The intention is to improve information processing in young children with ASD, accompanying them into adulthood, using cognitive exercises, and correction if necessary, the functions that are challenging to social integration and general comprehension.

The model is suitable for a broad spectrum of cases, ranging from the most severe to lighter ones, including high functioning children with Asperger's syndrome.
